5,000 infant car seats recalled due to identified injury risks
Graco has issued a recall for over 5,000 infant car seats sold in the United States following concerns about a possible injury risk associated with the car seat base. The affected products, Graco SnugRide Turn & Slide car seats, were sold between January 2026 and March 2026 through major retailers such as Amazon, Babylist, Target, Walmart, and Graco’s own website.
According to the company, the recall is voluntary and stems from a "structural issue identified during a post-production laboratory test." The Department of Transportation (DOT) recall report states that 5,126 units may be affected and warns of an "increased risk of injury" due to a defect in the base locking hooks. Specifically, the report explains that "a properly seated carrier may detach from the convenience base under certain crash conditions."
Affected Models and Consumer Instructions
The recall applies exclusively to select SnugRide Turn & Slide models, including certain infant car seats, bases, and Modes Nest travel systems that include the matching car seat. Graco emphasized that other rotating car seats, such as EasyTurn and Turn2Me, as well as other SnugRide models, are not impacted.
Graco has advised consumers to stop using the affected car seat with the base immediately. However, the company clarified that the car seat can still be used without the base if installed with the vehicle seat belt and in accordance with the product instructions.

Company Response and Consumer Support
In a statement announcing the recall, Graco underscored its commitment to child safety. "At Graco, the safety of children and the trust of parents and caregivers are at the heart of everything we do", the company said. "We know parents rely on Graco products every day, and we understand this may create frustration and disruption for families. We are working quickly to support [affected families] and will provide a replacement product at no cost."
To assist families, Graco is offering free replacement products. Customers who purchased an affected car seat can receive an infant seat, toddler seat, or a replacement base for base-only purchases. Graco has instructed owners to check the model number on the label of the car seat base, upload a photo of the white label, and complete the company’s recall registration form. The company also emphasized that customers should not return the product to stores.
This recall highlights the importance of stringent safety standards for child products and the need for quick action when potential risks are identified. Families impacted by this recall are encouraged to follow Graco’s instructions to ensure the continued safety of their children.
